Here's another chopper built for less than 5 dollars but 3 or 4 bikes were ultimately harmed to build this chopper. We built this one at the request of my best friend's son Spencer last 4th of July- had to finish it before the BBQ. This design is a favorite of mine. Take a cheapy cruiser frame. Cut the chain stays leaving a little to splice back in @ 6" to 8" of tubing. We bent the seat stays out and up with a rebar bender a little at a time until the proper rakeness was achieved with 20" wheels. Splice in more tubing to extend the forks. I also had to splice 2 steering tubes together as the cruiser head tube was longer than the BMX forks'. Fab a seat tube farther back & paint it flat black. Air up the tires and watch the kid grin as he rides it away. Enjoy, keep buildin' 'em. I hope to build one for me like this one. Rich McKee |
