Dear BikeRod&Kustom,
Mabuhay!

My name is Joel Cañalita and I'm from the Philippines. Down here we don't have the kustom bike scene going-on like what you guys have in your countries. I don't know of anyone else here, who are into this kind of stuff. I haven't seen or met anyone from another area (except for my peers) who's into kustomizing bikes. But nontheless me and some of my friends (who after seeing my bike also got into bike kustomizing) decided to start our own posse and hoped it would roll into something bigger.

I can't claim any originality 'cause most of the stuff and ideas are someway, somehow, influenced from the internet, bike magazines and other sources we got our hands on.

Here are some photos of my first attempt in kustomizing a classic-looking cruiser.

Local bike stores here don't sell any bent springer forks. So, in order to duplicate the look I had to resort to some machine shop custom work. The whole bent fork, minus the springer, was made to order.

The 72-spoke wheels, I made them myself. Local stores only sell standard 36-hole hubs and rims. I bought a pair of BMX hubs and got this pair of 26-inch rims. I drilled 36 more holes on each item and went looking for spokes with the proper length. I had them radially aligned by a professional bike mechanic.

The beach cruiser frame is from a junk shop. I don't know what brand, model or year  because when I spotted it at the junk shop it was really worn out, and had  no indication of origin or make. Joel Cañalita
