FBI Amsterdam. Well, what can we say. With attendance of around 350 over the weekend, it would seem very lame compared to many motorcycle and custom car shows.  But considering that these were mostly custom bicycle bros that were representing something close to 20 countries, I would prefer to use the Spanish word which would better describe this meeting which is ´concentracion´ . A concentration it waswith more bikes than I have ever seen in the 3 years I have been attending; with more styles and more attitude.

The Dam can easily be described as the bicycle capital of Europe with more bikes per capita than any other European city. Dedicated bike lanes, flat terrain, motor public tolerance, beautiful canal side riding and plenty of outside drinking, smoking venues to allow any rider every opportunity to enjoy their ride

The only negative I could possible give would be the not-so-tolerant weather conditions. But hey, it didn´t seem to affect any of the events, with still enough breaks in the weather to allow all the events to succeed rather flawlessly.

As far as SIC NIC and I were concerned, our weekend started early Friday morning arriving on a 6am flight from Barcelona. In the 3 years that I have travelled, I have never felt so comfortable arriving into the DAM due to the short two- hour flight and time to rest after the 48-hour session getting our bikes ready. It was the first time that I had ever flown into the DAM with the bikes.  Problem was, though we arrived all right, our bikes didn´t, they had forgotten to load our bikes. Seems flying on a red-eye flight also has its disadvantages; airline workers are not the most alert at 5:00 AM, and things get mishandled as well.  Our bikes didn´t arrive 'til late Saturday afternoon and we missed the majority of the judging and were pretty much out of the contest effectively.

Anyways, SIC and I took this as an opportunity to drown our sorrows in the local brew. 10 AM, accompanied by our local contingency Midge (owner of a local Barcelona Bikerod rental shop) , Eduard (local collector of Bikerods), and Fin our lovely local female enthusiast sister). Four of us representing  a bit of what I feel will be the future of the Mediterranean BikeRod scene.  With SIC being the always entertaining, ball-breaking, rebel bikerodder to add to the mix.

BikeRod bros from all over the world coming to the DAM showing off what can be done with all the platforms out there in the world, with many new frame designs and unique parts. It was eye-candy for any BikeRodder!!!

For those interested in the idea of visiting the DAM next year, I think I can represent a mostly positive impression. It has been a mixed experience for myself; but the pure energy from the participants will only fuel another spectacular show next year. Mike "Make" Brittan
